Now, with the original #Deadpool movie having made a vast amount of money off of a strikingly small budget, its hopes of getting a sequel were never really in doubt. After all, with #Fox's tentpole #XMen franchise struggling this summer, and Hugh Jackman's future plans seemingly not involving him playing Wolverine after the upcoming Logan, Deadpool now looks to be at the very heart of the company's future plans.
With that in mind, it seemed likely that its sequel (teased during its own end credits, no less) would be on the way sooner rather than later, presumably aiming to arrive before the inevitable horde of lesser imitators that are sure to be on the horizon. And yet...
Ryan Reynolds Is In No Hurry To Make 'Deadpool 2,' It Seems
That, at least, is what he suggested while talking to MTV on the Golden Globes red carpet this past weekend. Indeed, from the sounds of it, #RyanReynolds may well be the only Deadpool fan out there who isn't worried about when the movie will hit our screens. As he put it, after being asked how the search for the film's new co-lead, Cable, was going:
"We're still working on it... We're not going to start until we're ready."
Which, while not exactly a postponement notice, is very much a hint that Deadpool 2 will be getting here — right about whenever the hell Ryan Reynolds and Fox want it to. Which, considering the film was recently forced to switch directors in mid stream, replacing the original movie's #TimMiller with John Wick's #DavidLeitch a few months back, isn't all that surprising. After all, with a shiny new director and no new supporting casting announcement, it makes a whole lot of sense for Fox (and Reynolds) to hold off on shooting for a little while.
Whether that patience will extended much beyond the current awards season, though, very much remains to be seen.
