Now, if there's one thing that the doesn't need any more of, it's old dudes telling women what they should or shouldn't do. After all, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the folks who vote for the Oscar winners) is overwhelmingly male, with around 77%percent of its members being dudes as of 2012 — a number that has reportedly gone down somewhat in the past five years, but not by all that much.

As such, it's tempting to read a headline like the one above and suspect that you're about to read a story about an older dude (i.e. ) telling a young woman (i.e. ) how to live her life, for some reason. Thankfully, though, you're not — or, at least, not in the way you might be expecting. Y'see:

Samuel L. Jackson Totally Did Chide Scarlett Johansson At The Oscars — For Not Sending Him Enough Baby Photos

Yup, that's right. It seems that Jackson came up to Johansson on the red carpet and gave her a piece of his mind, but only because she doesn't send him pictures of her daughter, Rose, frequently enough. As she put it to E! Online:

"I was excited to see Sam Jackson, but then he scolded me for not sending him enough pictures of my kid... I was like, 'Honestly, here on the red carpet?' He was like, 'Where's my picture?'"

Which, while still technically an old dude telling a young woman how to live her own damn life, is more along the lines of your grandparents telling you to call them once in a while than, say, old male lawmakers deciding what women can and can't do with their own bodies, without bothering to, y'know, ask them.

Plus, it kind of seems like Johansson and Jackson have an adorable back-and-forth going on with this sort of thing, considering how Johansson responded when asked what her co-star gave her daughter as a gift when she was born:

"Oh, gosh! What did he get the baby?... Don't ask me. If I don't remember, he's going to get angry again. You know, you want Sam on your side!"

Expect some awkwardness come next year's awards season, then, as it seems Samuel L. Jackson takes his role as the world's honorary curmudgeonly yet cool grandpa very, very seriously.

What do you think, though? Who would you most like to send a picture of Samuel L. Jackson dressed up as a baby to? Let us know below!
