Sarah Paulson has experienced pretty much every nightmare imaginable throughout American Horror Story's six seasons. She's been chased by demons, tortured and raped by a deranged psychiatrist, almost murdered by her own twin, and the list goes on. Sometimes her turmoils are tough to watch, and not just for fans, but for her loved ones as well. Turns out that her storylines have gotten so brutal as of late, that even the actress's long-time girlfriend, Holland Taylor, has found it hard to keep watching Ryan Murphy's anthology series.
Taylor sat down for an interview with People, where she opened up about her relationship with the #AHS star. There, she revealed she isn't too fond of watching the hit horror show because she doesn't like seeing her significant other in distress –– something that's been especially tough these past two seasons:
"She's had two seasons in a row where she was running and screaming and fleeing and being in jeopardy. I don't like watching her in jeopardy. It's hard."
Now, Taylor might feel uncomfortable watching Paulson running away from long-dead murderers, but she's also quite proud of her partner's resilience when working on the show:
"I just admire her ability to do it, because they have very long hours on 'American Horror Story.' And I really don't know how she does it! I really don't. I mean it’s relentless. But she's a great actress and she can really go there. She can go wherever she has to go for a scene."
Sometimes it's easy to forget just how hard actors work to deliver pieces of entertainment as great as American Horror Story, so it's refreshing to see Taylor reminding audiences about the effort that goes into the show.
Sharing Their Love On Social Media
Those words of concern make it clear that Paulson and Taylor have a tender yet respectful relationship. And to the delight of their fans, there have been plenty of times when they've proven that through social media.
Last year, Paulson earned herself an Emmy for her incredible performance as Marcia Clark in #ThePeoplevsOJSimpson. Even though Taylor didn't attend the event, she made sure to follow it closely on TV. With her adoration and pride on full display, Taylor shared several pictures from her own television screen. In one image, Taylor expressed her excitement for see Paulson in the red carpet:
But hold on, the online displays of affection don't stop there. Nearly a year later, one fan posted a video of Taylor singing in the sitcom Two and a Half Men, where she played Evelyn Harper. The user tweeted at the actress to congratulate her for her impressive voice, but sadly, Holland felt embarrassed by the video. Fortunately, Paulson swooped in to lovingly comfort her, praising her singing talents:
More recently, in August a Twitter user messaged both Paulson and Taylor to congratulate the latter on her performance in #MrMercedes. Paulson was quick to join the praise for the actress:
It's worth noting that their fondness of using the Twittersphere to interact with one other has an equally adorable backstory, because their love story actually started on the social media platform. Taylor revealed that their first date came about after Paulson reached out to her to know if she was feeling well:
"She [saw] me in a tweet and thought I was blue about something and she said, ‘How are you? What’s happening?’ We got together shortly after that."
Ok, these two are officially relationship goals. I don't know if it would be too much to ask, but after seeing their interactions on social media and oozing chemistry, I'd love to see them work together in a #TV show or film.
While I wait to see whether that happens, #SarahPaulson will return to the AHS universe in the next installment of the anthology series "Cult", which is expected to be released on September 5, 2017. Check out the teaser:
