The nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards have been announced and while heavy hitters 12 Years A Slave, August: Osage County, Lee Daniels' The Butler and Dallas Buyers Club have all scored highly, the biggest shock of the day is being overlooked for a Best Actor nod for All Is Lost.

The SAG's are normally a good barometer for who will do well come Oscar time so Redford not getting nominated could be a big blow to his Oscar chances. The legendary actor has been winning rave reviews for his lonely portrayal of a man trying to survive alone in the middle of the ocean, but with the competition for the top prize being incredible tough this year I guess something had to give.

All is not lost though. Last year , and were all nominated for a SAG award but were ignored by the Academy, so there's still a chance that Redford can get nominated for a gold statuette.

Are you surprised by Redford's omission? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
