HBO's True Blood is such a ratings juggernaut that the season 6 premiere pulled in a whopping 4.5 million viewers - and that's down from last year, which drew 5.2 million viewers.

The numbers are even more impressive when you consider this: Unlike last year's season premiere, which didn't have to compete against the NBA Finals, Sunday's premiere went head-to-head with the Miami Heat-San Antonio Spurs Game 6 matchup. The two combined telecasts of the premiere pulled in a total of 5.6 million, which is really a mind-boggling number of eyeballs glued to the drama in Bon Temps.

A special leading up to the True Blood premiere, True Blood: Live From the Set, drew an additional 2.3 million viewers.

Not too shabby, bloodsuckers. Not too shabby at all.

True Blood Season 6 will air Sundays at 9pm EST only on HBO.
