Check out this fantastic video from Stan Winston School showing how they created a realistic (or rather, believable) animatronic dinosaur known aptly as "the spitter". Watch as it goes from mini prototype to life-size prototype, to final movie-ready dinosaur:

It sucks to know that same scene would have been CGI if it was done these days. But, you can catch the menacing Dilophosaurus again this April 5th when the movie returns to theaters in IMAX and 3D.
