Selena Gomez has joined the cast of director Woody Allen's latest feature film alongside Elle Fanning and Call Me by Your Name's Timothée Chalamet. The trio will top line the untitled film, which will be as Woody Allen's third film with streaming mammoth Amazon Studios. His previous two ventures were Cafe Society, a 2016 film starring Steve Carrel, Kristin Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg, and the short lived, critically panned TV mini-series Crisis in Six Scenes starring Miley Cyrus.

Allen's latest film, Wonder Wheel — starring Juno Temple, Justin Timberlake, Kate Winslet and James Belushi — is set to be the closing night film at this year's New York Film Festival.

So far, not much is known about the film (something the director is notorious for) but with the trio of youngsters as leads, Allen is certainly going in an interesting direction. The 19-year-old was recently seen in The Beguiled alongside , Colin Farrell and Kirsten Dunst. The actress is known for her starring role as the Sleeping Beauty Aurora in 's Maleficent, will next be seen in Teen Spirit, the Frankenstein author semi-biopic Mary Shelley and Reed Morano's I Think We're Alone Now.

, who recently earned rave reviews (and Oscar buzz) for his role as Elio Perlman, in Luca Guadagnino 's coming-of-age drama Call Me by Your Name, will next be seen with Steve Carrel in Beautiful Boy, Hostiles, Lady Bird, as well as in another coming-of-age story in Elijah Bynum's Hot Summer Nights.

Singer, actress and Instagram queen has been busy promoting her third (still untitled) solo album with Interscope Records, on the heels of the release of the two singles — "Bad Liar"and the eclectic "Fetish." Gomez started taking more adult roles since the release of her 2012 Harmony Korine-directed film Spring Breakers.

Since then she has been taking minor roles (such as in William H. Macy's Rudderless, the Oscar-nominated The Big Short and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising). She's also played supporting roles in The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving and more recently, 's In Dubious Battle. This film would mark her first lead in a major feature film since 2011's Monte Carlo.

The pop singer, who has penned many hits in the past, has long since expressed a desire to further her acting career. In an interview with Variety in 2016 she stated:

"I think there's a lot for me to explore. I'm in a place with my music where I've gone through this transition and I feel with this album I've been able to grow as an artist. But I feel like in acting, I haven't touched the surface of what I'm able to do."

This could help her do just that. (himself a musician and actor) has worked with several other multi-talented celebrities, including and , both of whom launched their respective music careers after stints as actors on the Disney Channel. Gomez will continue to serve as the producer for the hit Netflix TV series 13 Reasons Why and reprise her role as Mavis in the animated film Hotel Transylvania 3.

Although there's no release date currently attached to the Studio film, fans of Woody Allen can see Wonder Wheel when it arrives on Amazon December 1.
