It's been a long drought for Sense8 fans since the show's first season, but Netflix gave us the best Christmas present we could've hoped for in a two-hour Sense8 special. Based on the premise that eight strangers from different parts of the globe have a psychic link — which they can use to sense each others' emotions and share their thoughts — Sense8's second season is long overdue. Apart from showing us how hard the Sensates par-tay, the Christmas special gave us a few tantalizing morsels of information about the plot for the upcoming season, to tide us over until Sense8 Season 2 finally debuts.
So, if you're all caught up with Sense8 Season 1, and have already gorged yourself on the Christmas special, let's take a look at what we can expect in Season 2.
A Little Knowledge Is A Dangerous Thing
Sense8's first season was all about the #Sensates suddenly gaining psychic connections, but it did very little to explain how that connection actually works. Even the Sensates themselves didn't know how to deal with having seven other people inside their every thought, but it appears next season we'll see them learning the ropes.
In the Christmas episode, both Nomi and Will tried to get some answers and explanations about the Sensate's bond. Nomi dug deep into research using her hacking skills, while Will had a one-on-one psychic chat with Jonas (the only Sensate left from the previous cluster). Jonas explained a bit about how their link works, and how Whispers's (the head of an organization who wants to capture all Sensates) mind operates.
At some point even the bad guys need a break, and it was during one such breaks that Will took a peep inside Whispers's thoughts. There he discovered that Whispers takes some pills that work as neuro-blockers — much like the drugs that Riley's been giving Will do.
#Sense8Season2 might also see Whispers change his approach towards the Sensates. If the Christmas episode is anything to go by, Whispers isn't above psychological torture to get Will to cooperate — like threatening his father on New Year's Eve. It makes us wonder if Will is strong enough to resist Whispers's tactics.
"Will Is Our Strategy"
Will's role as the protector of the Sensates will definitely be put to test in the second season. Ever since Whispers forged a bond with Will in the finale of Season 1, the group's identity and location has been in jeopardy. So far, the only thing the Sensates have done was to drug Will and keep him on the run with Riley; but considering Will is moving into heavier and heavier drugs, it might be a good idea to come up with another plan before his brain actually melts.
Bizarre Love Triangle
For all the Kala/Wolfgang shippers out there, it must have been hard to see her trying to work through her marriage problems with Rajan. Of course she could have taken the free getaway card Rajan offered her and finally got together with Wolfgang, but where's the fun in that? Besides, Wolfgang seems to have a lot on his plate with the transition of power the death of his uncle brought about. And, since another of his disliked family members was executed in the middle of a New Year's celebration, Wolfgang might finally be convinced to step up to his new-found leadership role in Sense8 Season 2.
Lito, on the other hand, seems to be moving towards his happily ever after with Hernando, now that their relationship is out in the open. (What a brilliant moment Hernando had in his class when the photos of him and Lito having sex went viral; it gave the old "making love" expression a whole new meaning!) Even Lito's mom has accepted their relationship, so it's just a matter of time before Lito's managers come to terms with it as well.

Sadly, there wasn't much plot development where Capheus is concerned, aside from the fact that he's now friends with the neighborhood gangster, after he saved the man's life last season. Sun Bak has finally made it out of solitary, but she had to fight three hired assassins her brother sent — which means she'll probably go after her brother once she's out.
It was great to dive back into some Sense8 wildness after so long, but it'll be another long wait until May for the rest of Season 2 to become available on Netflix.
