While I skipped the first -as-Sherlock film, I was lucky enough to be the victim of a family-wide film-vote a couple of Christmases ago and ended up watching a film I'd never have forked out for of my own volition: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
I wasn't expecting to like it, but true factz: it was the sort of fun flick that has you hacking up your popcorn with laughter. So, as much as I'm usually pretty down on one good idea being spun out into a money-spinning multi-part franchise, I've got high hopes for the rumored third part to the -helmed series.
recently opened up to Empire about Sherlock and he sounds pleased as punch about the franchise:
"I hate celebrating anything I've done, but I'm so proud of those films. I think it was Joel Silver who said, 'Take it out of that dusty room and put it on the street'."
With regards to the possibility of a third film, he says:
"I think Warners want it, and there's a lot of want from us as a team. We want it to be better than the other two. We want to make sure it's smarter and cleverer, but in the same realm."
All the same, we shouldn't get too excited – getting in-demand-thesps like Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law’s schedule to match up is proving something of a headache:
"It's a slow process. We're all busy. So getting us together to try to nail that has taken a little bit longer than we had hoped."
All the same, I'd say this thing's been set in motion and it's only a matter of time until we get a third part, especially when you take into account Hollyweird's addiction to three-parters...
Over to you, gang. Would you want to see a third part? Or would you rather see Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. move onto to new projects?
