BBC One offers the teasiest of teases for the new season of Sherlock. Familiar faces, mysterious shadows, some rousing beeb music, and it's all over. Tantalising as this is, the dark and sultry tone of previous episodes looks to be continued. It's the stiff upper lip of Agatha Christie with the sheen of Spooks, the British classic of derring do, with barely concealed menace seeping through at the edges (think the later stages of the Harry Potter sequence...)
Man-of-the-moment heads up the team of British stalwarts, including a less Hobbity as Watson, and as Mycroft. Sherlock's nemesis, Moriarty () will doubtless be up to his old tricks, providing a dastardly foil to our upstanding heroes.
No air date has been confirmed for the long awaited third season of Sherlock, but Holmes and co. are set to sleuth in style once again. Oh, and Watson has a rather spiffy mustache.
