As became the 45th president of the United States on Friday, January 20th, actor and artist kicked off a new interactive art project outside the Museum of Moving Image in New York City, along with fellow artists Luke Turner and Nastja Säde Rönkkö. The project is called HEWILLNOTDIVIDEUS.US, and according to the website:

The public is invited to deliver the words "HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US" into a camera mounted on a wall... repeating the phrase as many times, and for as long as they wish.

Open to all, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the participatory performance will be live-streamed continuously for four years, or the duration of the presidency. In this way, the mantra "HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US" acts as a show of resistance or insistence, opposition or optimism, guided by the spirit of each individual participant and the community.

The first person to chant the mantra? Fellow actor/artist/activist :

Jaden held his ground in front of the camera for much of the day, with a crowd of supporters flocking around him and joining in repeating :

LaBeouf also came in and out of the shot, at one point aggressively chanting over a man who was trying to spout white supremacist slogans into the camera:

Last night, this man was joined by this woman who came all the way from her bed in Brooklyn to show her solidarity.

This morning, students stopped by the site on their way to school to repeat the mantra and share a few words of their own.

You can watch the livestream right here, 24/7. If you're ever in New York over the next four years, be sure to drop the Museum of Moving Image and check it out.
