Not wishing to disappoint those avidly following his peculiar behavior over the last few months, Shia LaBeouf continued his usual oddball antics at the Berlinale after storming out of a press conference for Lars VonTrier's Nymphomanic Volume 1.
The Hollywood reporter observed that LaBeouf- who is 'missing a lower bottom tooth after having 'shaved it down' for David Ayer’s World War II pic Fury'- reacted in a bizarre and cryptic way after being asked his first question which related to the amount of sex scenes in the film.
His response was clearly rehearsed and taken from Ken Loach's Looking for Eric, a film about the French footballer Eric Cantona:
When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much.
The statement was followed by the actor promptly storming out of the conference leaving the audience entirely bemused.
After decorum was restored, LaBeouf's co-panelist tried to salvage some lightheartedness from the wreckage that LaBeouf had left trailing in his path, saying:
Obviously, the script is packed with a lot of sardines... one sardine after another.
It seems that LaBeouf was in good company among the Nymphomaniac: Volume I crew, where director was also busy playing the provocateur, where the director:
Wearing a Cannes T-shirt with the words "persona non grata" on it, attended the photocall but did not stay for the press conference. The director took a "vow of silence" after his controversial Nazi comments at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011.
It seems like these guys are born troublemakers, but what do you think of 's antics? Is he a comic demon or do you think he's losing his way? Join in the discussion below:
