I've always heard that eating certain types of sushi can be kind of dangerous, although it looks like 's latest culinary horror movie, Dead Sushi, has taken this concept one further. That's right, you guessed it. Murderous sushi comes alive and it's pretty pissed. In fact, you could say its completely lost its tempura. Geddit? Great pun! It really has to be seen to be believed, so check out the extremely low budget trailer below:

Wow, that was raw! Although it might look like an amateur affair, Dead Sushi has actually garnered quite a bit of heat on the festival circuit. It featured in the official selection of Fantastic Fest 2012, Fantasia Film Festival 2012, Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival 2012, and Toronto After Dark Film Festival 2012. OK, so it's not exactly Cannes, but still, it suggests there's more to this Japanese splatter-comedy than meets the eye.

Indeed, Noboru Iguchi has some serious experience under his belt. He recently directed the "F" segment for upcoming kill-athon ABCs of Death, while he's also the mastermind behind much classics as RoboGeisha, Mutant Girls Squad, and of course, Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead.

You won't be able to catch Dead Sushi in theaters (surprise, surprise), but you can pick it up digitally, on DVD and on Blu-Ray from January 22.

What do you think? Will you be going to grab some Dead Sushi? Let us know below!
