Watching live can be difficult these days, especially when there is so much choice. However, even with all the catch up, streaming and on demand services there is one night of TV that is simply unmissable and that is ABC's line up of Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder. If you're a fan of these Shondaland shows than you'll be pleased to hear that ABC has renewed all three shows for another season.

Thursday night's have never been more entertaining and ABC has definitely benefited from having so many popular shows on in one night. The line up had been absent from 2016's fall schedule as star Kerry Washington's pregnancy resutled in a truncated season for the popular political drama. The sixth season commenced in January and now airs in it's usual slot alongside and . ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey had this to say:

"Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder continue to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and wanting more... I’m thrilled to bring back these shows and the OMG moments that come with them.”

This renewal is no surprise but at the same time it's important to mark this momentous occasion — Grey's Anatomy will have a 14th season! The hit medical drama first aired on ABC as a mid-season replacement back in 2005 and has went from success to success ever since. Though it has seen a series of cast replacements, the show has never failed to deliver hard hitting, heart-stopping — quite literally — drama and we're delighted that it will continue to do so for another year.

In a day and age where TV series' rarely make it past their second season, this is a huge achievement for Grey's and series creator Shonda Rhimes. It was recently heard that there are no plans for Grey's to end any time soon and to be honest it's one of the only series in history that has managed to maintain such a high standard despite it's lengthy run. If Grey's continues past a 14th season then it will have tied previous medical drama E.R's record — it ran for 15 seasons.

How Many More Murders Can Annalise Actually Get Away With?

There's no doubt that How To Get Away With Murder is the most compelling of the Shondaland shows but I have to wonder just how long the series can carry on. Each season has had an average of 15 episodes and the seasons tend to be self-contained plots so I guess my main question here is how many more murders can Annalise and the gang get away with?

The latest season of the Viola Davis led drama saw the death of a major character, leaving fans shocked but, as we've seen so many times in sister show Grey's, the show has carried on without this pivotal character. As long as the plots remain compelling — and no other series regulars bite the bullet — I'll be happy to keep following the gang's raunchy, murderous escapades for years to come.

As the television landscape continues to evolve and we become more and more obsessed with streaming services and premium cable channels, it's nice to see that there is still reason to tune into network television. In fact, the TGIT line up is one of the best nights of TV around — it gives us so much drama that we may be needing a visit from Meredith Grey herself to give us a check up!

Will you be tuning into the next seasons of Grey's Anatomy, How To Get Away With Murder and Scandal? Are you a fan of all three TGIT shows? Tell us below.
