Season 7 of The Walking Dead had its fair share of twists and turns with Rick Grimes recruiting other towns to rise up against Negan and his Saviors. Lives were lost, alliances were made and promises were broken, and now it's time for some other characters to to rise up.
For The Walking Dead Season 8, AMC will promote three recurring cast members to series regulars. That means we'll be seeing a lot more of these characters:
Simon (Steven Ogg)
Even though Simon does not have a direct counterpart in The Walking Dead comic book, Ogg has created a well-developed character on the show. As Negan's right hand man, he'll provide more of his twisted sense of humor that makes viewers squirm in their seats during his conversations with Gregory.
With Steven Ogg's promotion, it looks like we will have more intense interactions with the Hilltop and the Kingdom. Since we know that the war is coming, Simon will be busy traveling back and forth between the two colonies. I bet he doesn't make it past Season 8, though. Just being a fan of gin is enough of a reason to watch Shiva attack his face.
Enid (Katelyn Nacon)
We are first introduced to Enid as a wandering teenager (and the most emo character on the show). She lost her parents and learned to survive on her own. Once Rick and his group became a part of Alexandria, Enid and Carl developed a bond.
In Season 7, Enid was seen hanging out with Maggie over in the Hilltop group. We'll likely see her support Maggie in a bid to become the leader of Hilltop.
As for Carl, many viewers are hoping for Enid to fan the sparks of their teenage relationship. In the meantime, maybe Enid will knock some sense into Carl, and make him cut his hair. Her character will probably be safe from the walkers for awhile.
Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh)
As the leader of the Scavengers, Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) will get more screen time — but after her two-timing Rick Grimes during the Season 7 finale, her days are numbered. Nobody double-crosses Rick, shoots him in the stomach, and lives to tell the tale...especially if Michonne has anything to say about it!
In the comic books, the Scavengers were a small group led by a guy named Derek. During an attack on Alexandria, Derek was shot dead by Andrea (who was still alive in the comics at this time). What does this mean for Jadis as the TV counterpart?
Perhaps nothing, but the Alexandrians won't forget her betrayal. She will be protected by Negan and the Saviors for now. This will make the Scavengers' deaths difficult, but very gratifying.
Which one of the three characters do you think will be first to become zombie chum when The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October?
