Well, it's happening kiddies. The two titans of animated television are about to meet. According to a report from TVLine, 's Family Guy and 's The Simpsons will have a crossover episode in the fall of 2014. The plot of the episode will apparently find the Griffin family traveling to Springfield wherein Peter and Homer become drinking buddies, Bart and Stewie form a bad boy bond, Lisa tries to help Meg discover her hidden talent, and Marge and Lois find a lot of common ground.

I can't help but be excited about this against all reason. Though I have thoroughly enjoyed both shows in their respective primes, I feel like both have run their course and are running on fumes at the moment; much credit due to The Simpsons for lasting as long as they have. However, in spite of the rut these shows seem to be in, there will always be a small part of me that loves crossovers. The interesting thing about these particular worlds colliding is how often Family Guy is accused of being a ripoff of The Simpsons.

I direct you to the below pointed joke from a Simpsons episode...
