Sad news, everyone. Magic City has been cancelled after only two seasons as it struggled for ratings. The Starz network dropped the slick Miami-based drama after ratings dropped to around 300,000 viewers per episode.

The show was an interesting slice of cultural history, following the life of Ike Evans (), the millionaire owner of the luxurious Miramar Playa hotel in Miami. Fans of the show enjoyed the stylish contrast between the sunny beachside city and its dark underbelly, much like Showtime's Miami-based Dexter. and also starred in Magic City, exuding glamour in 1950's period costume.

The cancellation of Magic City must be a bit of a blow for the series creator, , who crafted the show in homage to his native Miami. Despite its failure to keep hold of the prime Friday television spot, the show had some nice touches. Let's hope its successor can hold its ground a little better.
