's book about the Californian underworld, L.A. Noir: The Struggle For The Soul Of America's Most Seductive City is hitting the small screen on December 4th, in the form of TNT's Mob City.

This show looks great! Mob City is populated with machine guns, sharp hats and ladies in foxy feathered outfits. Every shot is slick, dripping with danger as it growls:

This city is so damned beautiful...but only from a distance. Up close, it's all gutter.

It's a good year for dirty cops, with heading up the moral mire that is Low Winter Sun for AMC, and the movie Gangster Squad oozing gangland grime.

Mob City stars as Joe Teague, a former marine turned LAPD cop in a city plagued with shady dealings. The casts also includes , , and . Oh, and in a guest role (his American accent is quite good, too).

Is L.A. America's most seductive city? Maybe some of us are more bewitched by Boise. There's no accounting for taste.
