The amazing The Simpsons actress who played Bart's Springfield Elementary School teacher Edna Krabappel died last month.

passed away in October and the show immediately announced it planned to retire her character. This week's episode started with Bart's usual blackboard gag replaced by the writing: "We'll really miss you Mrs. K".

Wallace died of complications from pneumonia on October 25 at her home in Los Angeles, at the age of 70. The actress won an Emmy in 1992 for her work on the long-running animated show.

I know I'm going to miss the perpetually disappointed schoolteacher who was mildly alcoholic, left melted cheese in the microwave, and sold As for cigarettes. Still, in the wise words of Bart the lover, "any time I hear the wind blow, it will whisper the name Edna"...
