Star Trek may have become a multi-million dollar blockbuster franchise, but will it ever return to its more humble roots? In a recent interview with Collider, the question of a Star Trek TV series was quickly put to Star Trek Into Darkness writers Roberto Orci and Gavin Hood.
It seems, from the sound of things, that a Star Trek TV series revival is still a while off. Orci explained:
I don't know, we literally just ended up at CBS, who I think has the rights for TV. So we'll mention "What's going on with that?"
But it seems they're certainly prioritizing their pitch for Star Trek Beyond, explaining:
We're talking to Paramount to see if we can make their plans and scheduling, when they want the movie to come out if that's something that we can deliver for them, and if we have a good idea.
So it looks like the chances of a Star Trek TV series still seem light-years away. But with the movie franchise making serious bank, perhaps the CBS heads can be persuaded to boldly go where they've already been before?
