While the bulk of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will follow Rey's Jedi training under Luke Skywalker, ex-Stormtrooper Finn is also set to play a major role as he becomes a full-fledged member of the Resistance. We've heard several rumors about this important plot thread already — after an attempt on General Leia Organa's life, Finn (and probably Poe Dameron too) are instructed to discover who the Resistance traitor is, and how the First Order were able to almost assassinate Leia.

Of course, you should take that — and the proceeding rumors too — with a parsec of salt, considering that none of these plot points have been confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm. All come from apparent "inside sources" from the production of , mostly via the website MakingStarWars... which was actually right about a lot of The Force Awakens' plot.

With that in mind, spoilers may be lurking within, so proceed with all the caution of Han Solo sneaking up on a gang of Stormtroopers. Spoiler shields up? Ok, then let's dissect this bad boy.

Finn Goes Undercover

According to MakingStarWars, John Boyega has been fitted for a First Order officer's uniform to be worn in The Last Jedi. The section of the movie in which Finn dons the disguise has also been leaked to the website, as Finn is recognized by an old Stormtrooper buddy.

A stormtrooper that used to know Finn slaps his ass; knowing him back when he was FN-2187, the trooper clearly doesn’t know what actually happened on Starkiller Base. We were told Finn was undercover in the sequence... knowing he wears this uniform, we now think the trooper is congratulating Finn on his promotion within the First Order itself. Seems risky to tease a superior but stormtroopers have never been the smartest dudes in the galaxy.

MakingStarWars also points out that this is probably the sequence in which Tom Hardy will cameo as a Stormtrooper. Who knows, this may even rival the meme-inspiring TR-8R scene from .

This rumor expands on the ones we've reported already, which would make for an interesting plot development. If all the whispers we've heard are true, here's how Finn's plot in should pan out:

Now, it seems that after this thrilling sequence has gone down, whatever information Finn, Poe, and Aya gleaned on the Dubrovnik planet will lead them right back to the First Order — prompting Finn to don an officer's uniform and sneak aboard a Star Destroyer.

While none of these plot points could be true, almost all of them came from separate sources, hinting that the Star Wars Episode 8 set is riddled with as many leaks as the Resistance seems to be. We'll just have to wait and see to find out if this plot really is a major part of the movie, but one thing's for certain: By the end of The Last Jedi, Finn will fulfill his own prophecy by becoming a "big deal in the Resistance".

Do you think these 'Star Wars 8' rumors are legit?
