At Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm unveiled the very first poster for The Last Jedi. In a stunning callback to the first poster for A New Hope, Rey stands with the Skywalker saber held aloft. Behind her are the shadowy faces of Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren. This poster is striking and very stylistic, a stark difference from the crowded, multicolored poster for The Force Awakens.

The only other official art we have for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is the banner for Lucasfilm and Disney's new merchandise, which has not yet been released. Although the poster used for The Force Awakens toys was a simple picture of Kylo Ren, the toys will all sport this dynamic of the central trio: Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron.

In a strikingly different look from The Force Awakens, Rey's shorter hair now falls loose around her shoulders, though it appears to be pulled back into a bun at the back. But even more noticeably, she's wielding the iconic Skywalker lightsaber, a determined and confident expression on her face. This implies that, although Rey offered the saber to Luke in the final moments of Star Wars Episode VII, she will continue to fight with this weapon — and won't get her own lightsaber, as fans were hoping she would. (Personally, I thought double-bladed green would be cool. But hey, there's always .)

Poe Dameron's appearance on the box is interesting, implying that his role in The Last Jedi will be greater than his reasonably small role in The Force Awakens. And then there's Finn, looking off to the side and still wearing Poe's flight jacket. Now, is it just me or does the shirt he's wearing seem somewhat Jedi-like?

This key art was released as part of Lucasfilm's Force Fridays II, a weekly event that features the unveiling of new merchandise. Keep your eyes peeled for more tiny clues courtesy of official merch!
