We've finally gotten a look at the first of Disney's solo anthology movie series in Rouge One and I think it's safe to say we're off to a terrific start. I genuinely think Rogue One is the most Star Wars-y film in the franchise since Return of the Jedi! Along with a terrific cast (Felicity Jones, Forrest Whitaker), we also got a hugely memorable droid in K-2SO and some beautiful visuals from the visionary mind of Gareth Edwards.
The current Star Wars schedule has Episode VIII coming out next year, the Han Solo movie in 2018, Episode IX in 2019 and then we have an Untitled Star Wars Anthology Movie for 2020. This list is going to delve into five possible anthology films we'd all love to see hit the big screen! Let me know your thoughts after reading them all.
1. Boba Fett
#BobaFett is arguably one of the most popular characters in the #StarWars mythology, which is especially interesting when you take into account how little we actually see of the renowned bounty hunter. One thing is for sure and it's that Boba Fett has the potential to have an amazing franchise in itself!
You really could get countless movies of him collecting bounties — from the first film expanding on his origin as we see in Episode 2: Attack of the Clones and the following films, showing him up until his death. And what I'd personally love to see is him not being dead at all, as if he survived in Episode 6: Return of the Jedi and turned up in Episode 9!
2. Lando Calrissian
Lando Calrissian is one of the most interesting characters in the Star Wars mythology who's just aching to have his own movie, show casing his various adventures, his run-ins with Han Solo and his rise to becoming Baron Administrator of Cloud City.
I believe Disney has landed itself one of Hollywood's best actors in Donald Glover, and I think he's going to totally own the role as Lando Calrissian. I feel that if audiences like Glover's Lando in the Han Solo Anthology Movie, then we'll for sure see a Lando movie of his own! Glover recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about how Lando is the "cool" one and how he has to replicate that:
"He was like the only black guy in space. And he was the cool one. I just realized, he still has to be cool. And cool is an interesting thing. It changes."
3. Young Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the most beloved characters in the entirety of the Star Wars movies, which includes but isn't limited to the often criticized prequels. Ewan McGregor played the talented Jedi in the three prequels and I'm sure you'd agree with me when I say I'd love to see more. Whether is before The Phantom Menace or after Revenge of the Sith, either way I think it would be fantastic! Sure they could recast him, but I know we all want Ewan back.
If you are one of the people who'd love to see Ewan McGregor return for another Star Wars movie, you'll be happy to know that back in October he poster a Twitter video reply to somebody saying he'd be up for it!
4. Jyn Erso Spin-Off
Rogue One is the latest entry to Star Wars on the big screen and it marks the first of (hopefully) many anthology movies for the franchise. Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) is one of the stars in the spin-off espionage #RogueOne. If you've seen the movie, you'll understand how great of a character she is, with her compelling stubbornness and her believable flaws that make her a totally relatable character. For those who haven't seen Rogue One yet, avoid the spoiler section marked below!
If you saw Rogue One and read that first paragraph like "what's this guy talking about, Jyn Erso is dead," right? Well, that's true, but that doesn't mean we can't see a movie about Jyn before she started her adventure in Rogue One. Recently Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about how Jyn Erso could appear in another Star Wars movie because it's in Felicity Jones's contract.
5. R2-D2 And C-3PO
R2-D2 and C-3PO are one of the most iconic duos in Hollywood history ever since their debut back in 1977. This lovable pair have two hilarious sides where it's R2-D2 always coming up with random resolutions for hostile situations and C-3PO just panicking a lot.
Who could possibly know what this pair have gotten up to ever since leaving Anakin Skywalker's side (dark side, no pun intended). For all we know, they could've gotten up to some wild, crazy adventures that are only aching to be explored on the big screen. What better way to commemorate the unfortunate passing of Kenny Baker, the man inside R2-D2, earlier this year?

One spin-off movie I'm sure we can all agree we'd love to see is one featuring Master Yoda in his prime. We got a glimpse at what the legendary Jedi is capable of in the prequels, especially in Attack of the Clones where he took on Count Dooku in a exhilarating duel. The timeline possibilities for this film are absolutely endless and I'm pretty sure with the advancements in CGI lately, it won't be long before we see a young Yoda movie.
7. Princess Leia
Just like everybody else on this list, Princess Leia is another iconic character from Star Wars who would excel in a spin-off movie of her own. In the original trilogy we see a woman who is heavy in politics with the galaxy and then in The Force Awakens we see an army general. I'd love to see a movie about the in-between of those phases, or maybe even before A New Hope altogether! There are tons of possibilities, as with most of the films on this list.
The casting for this role would need to be perfect and I've a few choices I'd love to see. My first choice would be the wonderful British-born actress Emily Blunt who's been one of my favorite actresses ever since the likes of Sicario and Edge of Tomorrow came to screens. My second choice would be the multi-talented Anne Hathaway who could bring some edge to the role, and finally I'd also love to see the Harry Potter star Emma Watson play a young Princess Leia. Any of these actresses would be great; even if Disney casted an unknown it wouldn't matter because they've been pretty pinpoint so far.
Out of all these movies on this list, if I had to pick one I'd like to see the most (even though it's a hard decision) I think I'd have to go with a young Lando Calrissian movie, purely because I think Donald Glover could become iconic in the role and it's something I'd love to see explored. I'd love to know what you guys think! Which Star Wars spin-off would you like to see made after the Han Solo Anthology Movie?
Are they making too many Star Wars movies?
