UPDATE: TMZ reports Carrie Fisher is now in stable condition.
Actress, writer, and Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher suffered a massive heart attack on Friday, reports TMZ.
Fisher went into cardiac arrest on an airplane during a United Airlines flight from London to LAX. The attack occurred approximately 15 minutes before the plane was scheduled to land.
Other passengers, including an EMT who was also on board, administered CPR in the first-class cabin where Fisher collapsed.
Fisher was reported "unresponsive" by the United Airlines crew when the plane landed shortly after noon in Los Angeles. Paramedics reportedly worked on the actress with CPR for 15 minutes at the airport before they were able to get a pulse.
Fisher was then rushed to UCLA Medical Center where she is currently now in critical condition on a ventilator.
One of the passengers on the flight with Fisher was YouTube star Anna Akana, who took to Twitter with details of what she observed, saying Fisher "wasn't breathing for 10 minutes or so."
Many others, including several Star Wars alumni, have been quick to send thoughts to Fisher via social media.
The 60-year-old actress had recently wrapped filming Star Wars: Episode VIII, reprising her iconic role as Princess Leia once again, and has been on a tour to support her new book The Princess Diarist.
This is a breaking story. We'll post news as it develops, and we join all of Star Wars fandom in wishing Carrie Fisher a full recovery.
