If you're like me, then there's no possible way you could ever get sick of anything Star Wars-related. The ever expanding universe is a treasure trove of possibility for our imaginations. In December of last year, did just that and took audiences on a wild ride as they introduced one of the most badass boss heroes to ever exist on the silver screen: Jyn Erso.

Now it appears Disney is ready to open that door again as the hero is about to become the main feature of an upcoming Star Wars novel. Announced today, the new novel - titled Rebel Rising - is set to explore the early years of Jyn Erso while she was under the guardianship of Saw Gererra. It will be written by the Across The Universe trilogy scribe Beth Revis. The novel is set to be released on May 2, 2017.

We know from the film that the two spent a lot of time together after Jyn's mother was murdered and her father taken by the Empire. We also know that at some point in her teenage years, the two parted ways only to reunite years later during the main events of Rogue One.

The incredible on-screen dynamic shared between Felicity Jones and Forest Whitaker was amazing. Without knowing all that went down between the two characters during the unseen moments of Rogue One's backstory, audiences could easily tell there were years of unresolved issues, stemming from both sides, between them.

Here's the official synopsis for the book:

“When Jyn Erso was five years old, her mother was murdered and her father taken from her to serve the Empire. But despite the loss of her parents she is not completely alone—Saw Gerrera, a man willing to go to any extremes necessary in order to resist Imperial tyranny, takes her in as his own, and gives her not only a home but all the abilities and resources she needs to become a rebel herself.

Jyn dedicates herself to the cause—and the man. But fighting alongside Saw and his people brings with it danger and the question of just how far Jyn is willing to go as one of Saw’s soldiers. When she faces an unthinkable betrayal that shatters her world, Jyn will have to pull the pieces of herself back together and figure out what she truly believes in…and who she can really trust."

From that description, it seems as if we might get almost as much of Saw's back story as Jyn's.

Though we'll never get to see what actually went down between Saw and Jyn in the films, at least is giving fans the opportunity to explore the relationship on their own terms and at their own pace. Hopefully there are some good moments nuzzled in there. I'd hate to think Jyn's final moments in Rogue One were the only time she was ever able to attain peace in her life.

Either way, I definitely look forward to reading it.

Are you excited to explore more of Jyn Erso's 'Star Wars' story? Do you think the book should reveal if Jyn is actually force sensitive?
