It looks like the Star Wars prequels might be getting a 3D release after all, after a fan used the power of the Force (and some old-fashioned ingenuity) to find out a potential release date for Episodes II and III. Jedi News received an email from a guy in the Netherlands who noticed that a cinema chain in the country was listing Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith for release December 31st, 2014.

On the website they have Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith listed for December 31st, 2014, both movies in 3D!

Naturally I also got in touch with Disney Netherlands, but I yet have to hear back from them. Also, another small detail: films in The Netherlands usually premier on a Thursday, so (as was also the case with Episode III) I immediately figured it would premier here on December 17th, 2015. Disney NL at the time couldn't confirm, but in my telephone call with Pathé they also confirmed this date.

As Disney has yet to confirm if the prequels will be getting a 3D re-release, I would probably hold off getting out the Star Wars bunting and donning a Jar Jar Binks mask for now. But if this is true, it's a nice move on the studios part to build excitement ahead of Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens's release in 2015.

Would you be down to watch Episode II and III in 3D next year?
