With less than a month to go before The Last Jedi debuts in theaters everywhere, fans should be paying close attention to all the newest promos being released. So far, each one has teased a plot still shrouded in mystery but today's promo may have provided a more substantial clue as to what it entails. Check it out below:

In latest promo "Tempt", the scene depicts Luke training Rey. This scene has been teased before in prior videos but this adds some dialogue to their training session. In it, Luke can be heard asking Rey what she sees when looking into the Force. Rey replies that she senses both light and dark, which isn't unusual. But when Rey says that she feels "something else" calling to her, Luke appears terrified at her response. Clearly, Luke fears this unknown side of the Force that Rey is referring to.

Assuming Luke's fears are warranted, he probably understands that the Force can manipulate individuals into acting out of their nature. Luke's experience with Kylo Ren is proof of this, but does Kylo Ren's example mean every Force user, including Rey, will turn out the same way? Reasonably speaking, probably not. Luke just doesn't want his newest protege to wind up like Kylo. That being said, his approach to keeping Rey away from the unknown side of the Force may draw her closer to it.

With Rey being so independent and quite resistant to the influence of others, she could decide to ignore Luke's teachings. The Force Awakens already showed Rey is not one not easily controlled. So, in the potential scenario of Rey learning that Luke is hiding knowledge of the Force from her—or keeping another equally damaging secret,—Rey will more than likely embrace whatever it is she's feeling within the Force to discover for herself the answers.

As for what those answers could be is anyone's guess. But since we know Rey can feel both light and dark as well as that mysterious third quality, her senses are probably picking up on what we assume is the Gray. None of the Jedi or Force users in the cinematic canon have utilized this side of the Force, though it's possible Rey will be the first. Rey is in the position to become more than just a Sith or Jedi, especially with The Last Jedi seeing an end to the Jedi regime. Rey embracing the Gray side of the Force is a distinct possibility.

All things considered, Rey becoming a member of the Gray makes sense. She doesn't have a definitive stake in either the Light or the Dark side, so somewhere in the middle could be the perfect place for her to land. Of course, we should keep our minds open to one side enticing her more than the other.

While Luke may have a good sales pitch for Rey, Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke could actively try to convince her to join their side of the fight, too. They do seem to have a vested interest in her, and don't appear set on killing her. Keep in mind that Rey didn't seem too enthusiastic about Kylo's first invitation in The Force Awakens, meaning she'll likely carve out her own path not restricted to either the light or the dark side.
