An interview with Twilight author means one thing: asking the bestselling scribe if she'd ever return to her most popular series. After all, as awesome as Meyer seems, that's what she's best known for.
When Variety asked her just that in a Q&A, Meyer replied 'I get further away every day. I am so over it. For me, it's not a happy place to be.'
When the interviewer pushed and asked if this was really all Twilight fans were going to get, she said 'Not completely. What I would probably do is three paragraphs on my blog saying which of the characters died. I'm interested in spending time in other worlds, like Middle-Earth.'
Ouch. Nobody can blame Meyer for wanting to try out new material, but her response wasn't particularly tactful– saying it's not a happy place for her to be is a bit of a kick in the teeth to the fanbase that have made her the success story she is today, as well as to struggling writers who don't have the luxury of spending years writing and producing their work into a multimillion dollar film franchise.
Still, maybe Meyer was just having a bad day and is sick of being asked about Twilight (which seems fair). What do you think? Let me know below.
