Steve Carell has had an incredible career as a comedic actor — from playing Michael Scott in The Office to voicing Gru in the Despicable Me franchise since 2010 — but he's not exactly known as a sex symbol. However, a little grey goes a long way, because Carell has just gained notoriety for his dashing new look that has set Twitter on fire.

Steve Carell Is The Internet's New Crush

Photos of strutting around London like a GQ cover model recently hit the internet, and the 54-year-old actor looks fantastic. While most men fret when their hair turns grey, Carell completely owns it, and Twitter can’t get enough of his new “silver fox” look:

Twitter was flooded with comments about Steve Carell taking a page from George Clooney's book, and the entire Twittersphere agrees that he is super hot now. It’s rare to see this much positivity pouring out of the internet!

Although Carell looks amazing, the main cause of the internet’s adoration is due to his transformation from a regular looking guy who starred opposite Ryan Gosling in 2011’s Crazy Stupid Love, to an outright hunk.

Steve Carell Responds To His New Internet Fame

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight during the red-carpet premiere for Despicable Me 3, Carell was asked what he thought about his new internet fame, and his response was perfect:

“I am so sick of people just looking at me for my physical attributes. It’s just genetic. There’s nothing I can do.

Though his initial response was made in jest, Carell quickly followed up with a sincere response, which showed that he truly appreciated the positive remarks regarding his new look:

“I’m bursting with pride. That’s very nice.”

Like a fine wine, Steve Carell has aged wonderfully, and by embracing his naturally grey hair, he has joined a rare group of Hollywood icons who have earned the illustrious title, silver fox. Many were wondering how Steve Carell became so hot overnight or if his grey hair was natural, but given the internet’s response, it doesn’t really matter — enjoy it, people. This year will be known for many things, but the most importantly, it marks the year that Steve Carell became a certified heartthrob.

You can catch Steve Carell voicing Gru in Despicable Me 3 when it hits theaters on June 30, 2017.
