The movie would not attract any prestigious accolades following its release, but over the years it undoubtedly became a cult classic. The movie went on to inspire a generation to pursues careers in the world of meteorology. If it didn't stimulate your interest in the world of storm chasing, it at least made you pay attention to the weather.
As words of respect for Paxton are being shared on social media, one gesture in particular stands out as what might be the coolest tribute of all time. The Spotter Network used its network of storm chasers across the US, organizing them so their GPS coordinates would spell out the initials "BP" on the map.
