The list of nominations for the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards has just been announced, and with it came one brilliant surprise: Stranger Things actress Shannon Purser has been nominated for her role as Barb in the category of Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series.

The 20-year-old had a minor role in but it proved to be an unforgettable one. Fans instantly related to the character and her undeserved treatment from best friend Nancy (Natalia Dyer). Barb would sadly get killed off as she perished in the Upside Down, and viewers were NOT okay that her disappearance seemed to be forgotten. Barb's popularity grew in time, especially on social media with the movement.

Stranger Things received 18 nominations this year in total, including for Outstanding Drama Series and acting nominations for Millie Bobby Brown (Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series), David Harbour (Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series) and the Duffer Brothers for their writing and directing. But after learning of Purser's much-deserved nomination, fans have taken to Twitter to share their excitement:

The series' creators, the Duffer Brothers, have explained that Barb is very much dead but she will still be a topic in Season Two, so the innocent teen will not be completely neglected by the Hawkins community as we first thought.

Purser made her acting debut portraying Barb, and what a lucky opportunity it would turn out to be! The actress also starred in the hit series as Ethel Muggs, which sneakily channeled her experiences on Stranger Things. Her next projects include a role in the upcoming series Rise and her feature film debut in the upcoming horror film, Wish Upon. The young actress has also won over the hearts of fans for her honesty on social media after coming out as bisexual in April.

The outpouring of love for Barb surely influenced Purser's nomination, but the actress deserves it. We will rooting for her come Emmys night, just as we rooted for Barb.

The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards air September 17th, 2017.
