Director is rumoured to take over the directorial duties from in Star Trek Beyond. Despite the huge success of the 2009 sequel, he cannot continue directing the franchise, because of his commitment to Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, with Star Trek 3 expecting to hit theaters in 2016. Meanwhile, feast your eyes on these vehicle designs for Ambassador Spock's starship from 2009's Star Trek movie.

The 24th century ship, named Jellyfish, was described as the fastest one to transport red matter, when Spock was trying to save the planet Romulus from the destruction of a massive supernova. The designs were created by professional concept artist Nathan Schroeder (The Avengers), who has posted:

My contribution dealt mostly with Spock's ship. I played a little visual pun in designing the cockpit - the triangle intersecting the circle is a reference to the Vulcan IDIC symbol from the original television show. And since the character's identity is still a mystery at this point in the film, I wanted this to be a tip off to all the Trekkies in the audience.
