Wonder Woman and Supergirl are both going through live-action renaissances. Diana Prince will be the first modern female superhero to headline her own film, directed by Patty Jenkins, while Kara just closed out a popular season on The CW with the eye-popping episode "Nevertheless She Persisted." Could you imagine these two milestones paving the way for an awesome crossover?
Well, you should, because it just (kind of) happened.
During the Supergirl season finale, The CW aired a promo for #WonderWoman. This time around, Warner Bros. let Supergirl sell us on Gal Gadot's superhero adventure with an incredible bit of footage that shows Kara donning some of Wonder Woman's gear. Take a look at it for yourself:
Could this promo get more awesome?! Granted, we never actually see Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman interacting with Kara, but the trailer was set to the tune of an updated version of Nanci Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walkin,'" featured legendary Wonder Woman, #LyndaCarter, and (the biggest touch of awesomeness) we saw Supergirl sporting Wonder Woman's boots and bracelets.
It's worth mentioning this isn't the first time Warner Bros. has used its small-screen heroes to promote its big-screen adventures. Back in February, prior to the release of #LegoBatman, a promo featured different characters of the Arrowverse being analyzed by Batman. After these two promos, I can't wait to see what the studio has in store for Justice League.
After watching this, I would love to see a Supergirl/Wonder Woman crossover. Will that ever happen? Perhaps it's not likely, but it's fun to see Warner Bros. having fun with its different characters this way, despite them living in different universes.
Wonder Woman flies into theaters on June 2, 2017.
