Krypton is the prequel series that will allow us viewers to explore what the planet was like before it's most popular inhabitant, Kal-El, was born — and before the whole thing where it, you know... blew up!

Set two decades before Krypton's demise, the show will focus on Kal-El's grandfather, Seg-El, who tries to reclaim his family's honor after the House of El is shunned and disgraced.

Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton was first referenced in Action Comics #1 in 1938, but it was a year later that it made its first appearance in Superman #1.

Through the 70+ years of Superman, Krypton has gone through many changes and overhauls and has been explored in other media. Most recently in a couple of episodes of Supergirl Season One, but nothing like what we'll see in Krypton.

Having already hired its two leads earlier, Syfy has filled the out rest of the cast of regulars for the show, which has only been picked up for a pilot episode so far.

So let's take a look at both the old and newly announced cast members and where we may have seen the actors before plus a bit more information on who they will be playing.

So there you have it: the cast of the upcoming Krypton pilot! Given how often the surnames 'El' and 'Zod' are coming up, it looks like we are going to be in for a bit of drama!

Production is expected to start this year in Montreal, but no premiere date has been announced as of yet. The pilot and story has been written by David S. Goyer, who has been involved in bringing DC Comics characters to our screens since Batman Begins in 2005. Surely if anyone can pull this off, it's him.

But what do you think?
