As unfortunate as it is to see Teen Wolf go, the good news is that the last 10 episodes will apparently close out the series with an action-packed ride from start to finish. The recently released trailer for Season 6B makes it look like one hell of an adventure that could result in major character deaths. Watch it below:
While the trailer itself isn't packed with plot details, it provides a decent enough idea of what to expect from Teen Wolf's final season, focusing on the supernatural creatures of Beacon Hills being targeted by a brigade of hunters (and keeping an all-new supernatural demon at bay). Here's everything we learned.
It's A Season Of Returns
Early on, rumors of former cast members returning were making the rounds. The trailer proves that quite a few former characters are, in fact, returning.
The most notable returns have to be Jackson (Colton Haynes) and Ethan (Charlie Carver). They're apparently going to be walking tall in the halls of the town's high school once again. More importantly, their presence might wind up throwing a wrench in Lydia and Stiles' plan for a relationship, considering both Ethan and Jackson had flings with her in the past.
Jackson and Ethan will also be joined by the Hale family. Peter Hale was more or less expected to return, considering that his semi-redemption in the first half of Season 6 led us to believe he'd be sticking around for Malia's sake.
The most surprising return has to be Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin). In the trailer, Derek can be seen wolfing out once again, so we should count on him taking a stand in the fight to protect the supernaturals' presence in Beacon Hills. His old werewolf pack is going to need all the help they can get.
Gerard Argent is back as well as an antagonist once again. He looks to be accompanied by a troop of hunters, preparing to wipe out all of the supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills.
The Hunters Have Arrived — With A New Second-In-Command?
She is confidently smiling, and she's likely a pivotal character for Season 6B because of how many different scenes she can be seen in. She's standing beside Gerard Argent in a brief screenshot. The context around their partnership is unknown, but they appear to have likeminded interests, considering they're both pointing guns at Scott's pack. And from what I remember, Gerard and Scott called a truce. So, pulling a gun means Gerard has gone back on that agreement and he's taken his vendetta for werewolf hunting to the next level. Could this all be because of how Scott's pack inadvertently caused the death of both Allison and Kate?
More Supernatural Creatures Are On The Way
The first creature we see in the trailer accompanies Lydia's dialogue, as she describes something jumping out of the door when they rescued Stiles from the Ghost Rider's dimension in the first half of Season 6. The trailer doesn't give us a really good look at him, but this devilish-looking figure shares no similarities to any of the supernatural creatures on the series.
From what we can tell, it has blood red skin and glowing purple eyes. Will this villainous specter will be a resident of Beacon Hills, masquerading as a normal person, similar to how Garrett Douglass hid his agendas in Season 6A? Or perhaps Douglass's trip to the Ghost Rider's dimension left him with a disfigured appearance?
A New Hellhound Joins The Fight
Just when you thought Scott's pack couldn't have any more enemies to fight! Casey Deidrick will be playing Halwyn, a Hellhound and former resident of Eichen House, who apparently has ties to an ancient evil that's plaguing Beacon Hills. Is it the aforementioned creature?
Halwyn himself remains a mystery, so it'll be interesting to see what side of the line he stands on. Hellhounds do tend to burn things down by accident; it's possible that he'll wind up being portrayed as a conflicted individual.
New Werewolves Joining Scott's Pack
It seems as though all kinds of supernatural creatures are flocking to Beacon Hills. And while most of them are going to possess villainous motives, it looks like Scott's pack will be getting a little help from a few more werewolves.
Is That Scott And Malia In A Shower Together?
Malia has a new love interest, and it looks like Scott. It's tough to tell for sure, but a relationship between these two makes sense; Malia's slight fling with Stiles fizzled out when Lydia started reciprocating Stile's advances. Their passionate kiss during Season 6A seemed to confirm that notion, leaving Malia without a partner. It does seem logical that the most dominant werewolf would wind up with an equally dominant werecoyote.
With so many new variables being introduced, there's no telling what direction the series will go. These final 10 episodes have the obligation to close out the series in a meaningful way. Fortunately for us, the trailer gives us reason to believe Season 6B will do right by Teen Wolf and end on a positive note.
Teen Wolf returns to MTV on July 31, 2017.
