Now, in a world in which Stan Lee has appeared in close to 2000 #Marvel movies (no, wait, that's not right), you might imagine that getting a cameo appearance in the films is a pretty easy business for the comic book legends that created the characters and storylines on which the #MarvelCinematicUniverse is based. After all, over the last few years, some of the greatest figures in modern comic book-dom have turned up in the #MCU, with the Captain America and Thor franchises having been particularly liberal with their cameo-inclusion.
Recently, though, it emerged that Jim Starlin, beloved creator of #Thanos himself, and the man who wrote Infinity Gauntlet, the comic book event on which #AvengersInfinityWar looks set to be loosely based, hadn't heard anything from Marvel regarding making an appearance:
Which, seeing as the movie really, really wouldn't exist without Starlin having come up with all the best ideas behind it twenty-odd years ago, seemed a shame.
Which, in turn, makes the latest news to emerge from Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo all the more exciting. Y'see:
Jim Starlin Will Be Turning Up In 'Avengers: Infinity War' After All, It Seems
That, at least, seems to be the most obvious interpretation of The Russo Brothers' recent response to Starlin's original Facebook post, in which they confirmed that:
"We've got your close up ready, Mr. Starlin."
Which, it seems, means that we will absolutely be seeing Jim Starlin in the upcoming — and currently filming — Avengers: Infinity War when it hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
No word yet on whether the thousands of fans and aspiring actors who've presumably asked to be in Infinity War on Facebook will be getting cameos, however.
