Superhero movies aren't exactly known for their tear-jerking properties. Sure, there's the occasional moving death scene over-dubbed with slow piano music, but I've certainly never shed a tear for some costumed savor (but then again I didn't even cry while watching My Girl, so perhaps I'm just a cold human being).
Anyway, it seems has none of my emotional development issues. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, he explained how the script for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 almost turned his face into a small scale recreation of Niagara Falls. He explained:
This time we have this very, very good script that makes a lot of sense. I almost cried. Because I was like. This is what we've needed and this is what we were missing a little bit in the first one. I just felt this warm rain of reassurance rushing through my soul. I was like, "Ok, we’re fine. If we mess up, it’s my fault now".
So there you have it. If you don't like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Garfield is basically inviting you to blame him exclusively.
But the potentially sob-inducing nature of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 script could also hint at the inclusion of a pivotal scene from Spidey lore. You know the one I'm talking about, right? The one involving the death of a certain important person?
What do you think? Have there been any superhero movie moments that have left you blubbing like a baby? Let me know them below.
