With most of our favorite shows and channels available at our fingertips, streaming services such as Amazon, Netflix, Hulu (and now YouTube) are now the basis of television. These streaming services are making basic cable so outdated that we don't even need DirecTV or Dish.

One of the reasons these services are doing so well is because of their original content. was the first to start the trend, which opened an array of original content. While there are some impeccable and Netflix original shows, is no different. In no particular order, here are some of the best original series that Hulu has to offer:

7. Difficult People

  • First Aired: August 5, 2015
  • Cast: Julie Klausner, Billy Eichner, James Urbaniak
  • Tomatometer: 92 percent
  • Current Season: 2

This comedy is set between two comics (best friends Julie and Billy), who live in New York City. While the two seemingly hate everyone except each other, they continue to live their life through awkward situations, struggling with their careers and relationships. if you're into a "Seinfeld-like" comedy, then this show is definitely for you.

6. Chance

  • First Aired: October 19, 2016
  • Cast: Hugh Laurie, Gretchen Mol, Ethan Suplee
  • Tomatometer: 80 percent
  • Current Season: 1

Hugh Laurie stars in this dark thriller as Eldon Chance, who is a neuro-psychiatrist. As one of his patients slowly lures him into a life of police corruption and abuse, it puts him at risk of exposing some secrets of his own. This show is a must see and Hugh Laurie gives an outstanding performance, much like his acting chops in House.

5. East Los High

  • First Aired: June 3, 2013
  • Cast: Gabriel Chavarria, Noemi Gonzalez, Danielle Vega
  • Tomatometer: 60 percent (General Audience Score)
  • Current Season: 4

This teen drama follow a group of Latino teens in high school, located in East Los Angeles. These characters face real-life issues such as drugs, peer pressure, life as a single parent, secret romance and infidelity. If you enjoy dramatic shows such as Degrassi and Gossip Girl, you'll have a new show on the shows-to-watch list.

4. The Mindy Project

  • First Aired: September 5, 2012
  • Cast: Mindy Kaling, Chris Messina, Ed Weeks
  • Tomatometer: 86 percent
  • Current Season: 5

This romantic comedy is about a young OB-GYN nurse who tries to balance her professional and personal life in New York City while dealing with her co-workers in a small office. This is a great show for anyone who is looking for show with quirky co-workers.

3. Casual

  • First Aired: October 7, 2015
  • Cast: Michaela Watkins, Tara Lynne Barr, Francis Conroy
  • Tomatometer: 88 percent
  • Current Season: 2

This dramatic comedy is centered on a bachelor and his divorced sister raising her teenage daughter. As suggested by the show's title, all three characters delve into the dating world while having casual relationships. You should definitely check this one out if you're wanting a compelling rom-com.

2. 11.22.63

  • First Aired: February 15, 2016
  • Cast: James Franco, Sarah Gadon, Chris Cooper
  • Tomatometer: 79 percent
  • Current Season: 1 (mini-series)

James Franco stars in this Hulu mini-series that centers on high school teacher Jake Epping, who gets the help of a friend to travel back in time to stop one of the greatest mysteries of the 20th century: the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. I highly recommend this if you're into the real-life story and certainly if you're a fan of James Franco.

  • Cast: Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, Hugh Dancy
  • Tomatometer: 75 percent
  • Current Season: 2

Last, but certainly not least, is Aaron Paul's , a drama that centers on a family that deals with relationships, power and controversial religious movements while being part of a fictional religion known as Meyerism. This show contains great performances and an impeccable writing team that is definitely worth your time.
