If you're looking for LGBTQ-inclusive media that actually believes in happy endings, then Carmilla should definitely be on your radar. After a triumphant three-season web series, which has gained a dedicated fandom, the lesbian-vampire love story is gearing up for the release of a feature movie.

We've received a few teasers for The Carmilla Movie thus far, but the cast and crew gathered at NYCC to drop its highly anticipated full-length trailer. Check out the brand new footage below:

Season 3 concluded at Silas University with Laura Hollis (Elise Bauman) and Carmilla Karnstein (Natasha Negovanlis) stopping the apocalypse, and Carmilla no longer being a vampire. The upcoming movie takes place five years after those events, which sees the couple living a normal life in Toronto.

But Laura starts having ghostly dreams, disrupting their domesticity, and Carmilla begins to regain her vampire attributes. In order to expose a mysterious, supernatural threat, the two of them must unite with their old friends to save humanity once again.

While we await the movie's release on October 26, the team has given us a bunch of fun activities to be involved in throughout the month:

  • Create A Creampuff Campaign — This campaign not only inspires your friends to join the Carmilla family, but also spreads the word about positive depictions of characters on-screen, and why they're important. You can follow the steps here, and in return, you'll get to see the first five minutes of the movie on October 23.
  • Cineplex Events theatrical screening — If you're in Canada, then you'll have a chance to see The Carmilla Movie on the silver screen. On October 26, Cineplex Events will be showing the film, along with bonus footage, across 30 cities.

There's lots more, including exclusive character posters and behind-the-scenes footage, and you can watch Natasha Negovanlis explain it all here.

The Carmilla series episodes only ran from three to seven minutes, so it will be exciting to watch the characters' new adventures in a feature-length format. And of course, that means more adorable Hollstein moments, right? Positive representation in media always matters, and The Carmilla Movie is here to celebrate that.

The Carmilla Movie will be released on October 26 through VHX. On October 27, it will be available to stream on VOD service, Fullscreen.
