The CW has turned into the home of the best superhero shows on television, and the channel will expand the Arrowverse in the upcoming 2017-2018 season. Ahead of their SDCC panels, The CW has released a sizzle reel/trailer, which showcases the origins of their beloved DC Comics superhero shows — including their newest show: Black Lightning.

The trailer opens with a voiceover from Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), speaking of the tragedy and miracles that he and his compatriots have experienced, while we are shown quick-cuts of an artist bringing the animated Arrowverse to life. This might seem like a small tie-in, but the animated universe has already given us Vixen, and in a few short months, it will also be home to the fan-favorite hero, Constantine.

We are then introduced to Barry Allen/ (Grant Gustin) and Kara Danvers/ (Melissa Benoist), juxtaposed against their comic book counterparts. Voice-overs from our heroes recitie some of their most heroic speeches, while images of Citizen Steel, The Atom, Guardian and a shot of Echo Kellum in his full Mr. Terrific costume. Vibe makes an appearance, as well as Kid Flash, before the trailer showcases some of the heart-pounding action from past seasons of The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow.

The trailer then appears to end with the various DC logos — however, it begins again by introducing the newest DC Comics CW superhero, .

Clips from the previously shown trailer for Black Lightning are run beside panels from the hero’s comic book, and the new star is given the spotlight in glorious fashion. Then, all of the covers from each of the five shows' comic book inspirations come together while Melissa Benoist’s “Justice League” speech from the “Heores Vs. Aliens” crossover episode. The trailer ends with the line: “What kind of hero are you going to be?” and a solo shot of Black Lighting.

This video is just what fans needed to see before the Arrowverse panels, and it was awesome to see how they used the comic book versions of the characters as a comparison. We don’t know yet if Black Lightning will be a part of the Arrowverse; however, given the ending of this trailer, it seems likely that he could meet the other heroes in the future.

The Arrowverse returns to The CW on October 9, 2017, with the next episode of Supergirl.
