Warning: This article contains spoilers from The Flash Season 3, Episode 6 "Shade" and potential spoilers for Season 3, Episode 7 "Killer Frost." Prepare for an onslaught of cold puns!
This week's installment of The Flash was quite frankly, a thrill-ride of epic proportions. Not only did Wally suffer from Dr. Alchemy's mind games, we also finally caught a glimpse of this season's second big bad Savitar. The self-proclaimed "god of speed" killed every single CCPD officer — with the exception of Joe and Wally West — before setting his sights on The Flash himself.
Savitar introduced himself before channeling his inner Predator by ejecting a metal spike from his gauntlet. As we cringed behind our cushions, looking away from our #TV screens as we feared what would happen next, the episode suddenly ended. And we were left wondering what would happen to Barry. However, with next week's episode seemingly not following up on the cliffhanger at all, it appears that Barry might get help from a friend. Let's take a look at what is set to go down in next week's episode and how that could tie into Barry's altercation with Savitar.
Killer Frost Arrives In Next Week's Episode
All season long, Team Flash member Caitlin Snow has been fearful of her newfound icy abilities — and for good reason, she's terrified of turning into her evil Earth-2 doppelgänger Killer Frost. After visiting her mother, she found out that the more she uses her powers, the more difficult her icy abilities will be to reverse — highlighted a few weeks back when he got out of the shower to find herself with blue lips and a white streak in her hair.
However, in this week's episode, her secret was revealed to the team which just may have been the final straw for her. Despite using the metahuman dampening handcuffs and vowing to help instead of hurt, it appears that she is destined to become Killer Frost.
And it looks like that she is set to make the transition sooner rather than later. With next week's episode being titled "Killer Frost", Caitlin will channel her Earth-2 doppelgänger, and seemingly becomes a fully fledged villain in the process. And judging by the trailer released for the episode, Earth-1's Killer Frost is definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with.
With Killer Frost's arrival imminent, the question is — what is going to bring her to the forefront?

Does Caitlin Save Barry From Savitar?
According to Caitlin's mother, the more she uses her powers, the harder they will be to reverse. So this makes us wonder, what could possibly make Caitlin passionate enough to awaken the beast within? And there's only one thing I can think of to make her do so — saving Barry from Savitar.
After all, the most recent episode of The Flash ended on a cliffhanger with Barry unable to escape Savitar's clutches. Yet this week's upcoming episode will be all about Caitlin's transition into Killer Frost. This begs the question of what happens in between to warrant this sudden focus change? After making such an emphatic debut, why is Savitar seemingly absent from next week's episode?
Perhaps it's not as shocking as we think. After all, this week's installment also focused on Caitlin's struggles with her fearful new powers. Thus, perhaps both storylines will collide at the beginning of next week's episode and we will see Caitlin using her icy powers to save Barry from Savitar's clutches. Let's not forget, ice blasts can wound big bads — remember Earth-2's Killer Frost caught Zoom off-guard, allowing the Flash, Cisco and all their Earth-2 buddies to escape.
Furthermore, in the trailer Caitlin cites her evil-turn as a response to everything that Barry has done. While she does have an understandable reason for such a claim with all of his timeline meddling, she could also blame him for her transformation if saving him is what causes the cold transition.
While it's quite possible that Caitlin will save Barry from Savitar and in effect, end up becoming the cold-hearted villain she is terrified of, it doesn't change the fact that no matter what happens, Killer Frost is coming. Caitlin has done her best in order to maintain her lovable quirks and help her team of #superheroes but, given the circumstances, she just may not be able to suppress the cold monster within anymore.
Whether she saves Barry or just simply snaps — Central City better beware, because Winter is coming!
