It's safe to say that Season 4 of The Flash has been a return to form for the show. Between the introduction of The Thinker to the arrival of Elongated Man, the series has been full of fun, action-packed and epic moments. It seems like no matter what threat arises in Central City, the Scarlet Speedster and his team have absolutely no issue of disposing of them.
However, things took a turn this week when Barry and Iris went out for their respective bachelor and bachelorette parties. With The Flash and Vibe unreachable, it was up to the ladies of Team Flash (and Team Arrow) to save the day.
The team-up led to a lot of shocking reveals and interesting introductions. Let's take a look at the most jaw-dropping moments from The Flash Season 4, Episode 4 "Girls Night Out."
1. Killer Frost Saves Iris, Felicity And Cecile
In honor of Iris's impending wedding to Barry, the future Mrs. West-Allen went out for dinner with Caitlin, Cecile and Arrow's Felicity (who is always a fun addition to the mini-crossover episodes). However, their celebrating was cut short when Norvok showed up, stalking Caitlin. Things got even weirder when his blind eye fell out, and a snake-like claw emerged from his eye socket.
With Felicity, Cecile and Iris huddled in the corner, Caitlin had no choice but to let the evil within out in order to protect them — and with that, Killer Frost emerged. As her hair turned white and her lips turned blue, the transformation to her villainous persona was complete.
Frost sent a blast of ice at Norvok, sending him crashing through the window. She then sipped from a bottle of champagne as Caitlin's friends looked on — shocked that Killer Frost had returned.
2. Killer Frost Confronts Amunet Black
When Norvok confronted Caitlin the Season 4 premiere, he spoke of a mysterious character named Amunet. And in this week's episode, we finally found out who she was. Portrayed by the #TV veteran Katee Sackhoff, Amunet Black was a colorful, albeit sadistic, black market dealer of metahumans. Moreover, it was soon revealed that between Season 3 and 4, she tried to help Caitlin control Killer Frost — but in return, the icy maiden had to be her henchwoman.
Displeased by Norvok's interruption of Iris's bachelorette party, Killer Frost confronted Amunet and reinforced her desire to remain out of the villainous circle. Biut things didn't necessarily go her way, as a fight almost broke out between the two. Thankfully, Iris managed to diffuse things before they got too serious — but she only ended up delaying the inevitable.
3. Barry Gets Drunk At His Bachelor Party
The episode's secondary arc focused on the Scarlet Speedster's bachelor party. While things initially started off as a quiet evening in, revisiting his childhood days, an interruption from new addition Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man led to a drunken night at a strip club that nobody wanted to attend.
While it's well known that Barry's metabolism usually means that it's impossible for him to get drunk, Cisco managed to create an elixir for him to recreate the drunken buzz — a present for the man of the evening. Moreover, he also vowed to be the superhero that night should Team Flash have needed assistance.
But it didn't take long for him to realize that his concoction worked a little too well, as a very drunken Barry started blurting out "I'm the Flash!" in public. And that was only the beginning of a very bad night as a hilarious drunken rant about Titanic and a vicious fight later led to all of them getting thrown in jail for the night.
4. Amunet Brutally Attacks Caitlin
Fearful that her inner Caitlin would escape from the danger and suppress her forever, Killer Frost tried to escape while she was in control and thus, be free of both Caitlin and Amunet. But her attempt was cut short by none other than Amunet herself. And this surprise confrontation led to an epic battle between the two imposing ladies.
Dropping a bucket of metal plates to the ground, she managed to summon the pieces as they rose and wrapped around her hand, forming a metal fist. She then forced some of the plates out towards Killer Frost, hitting her in the face. While Frost fought back with icy blasts, the metal plates reformed into a piece of armor, protecting Amunet.
Amunet managed to over power her and this led to a brutal beatdown with the gigantic metal fist. And with that, the silver hair disappeared and a barely conscious Caitlin returned to the surface. But before Amunet could finish the job, she was distracted by two police officers. While she callously disposed of them, she turned around to find that Caitlin had escaped.
5. Killer Frost And The Ladies Stop Amunet
After a fearful Caitlin refused to try stopping Amunet and Team Flash was unreachable, it was up to Iris, Felicity and Cecile to stop the intimidatingly cheerful black market dealer. While Cecile guided them on the comms, Felicity and Iris entered the industrial warehouse with S.T.A.R. Labs weapons (including Captain Cold's cold gun). But things went wrong when Amunet's henchmen caught them.
Before the villain could kill them, Caitlin showed up and offered to return as Amunet's henchwoman in exchange for sparing their lives. But after Amunet declined, she screamed, unleashing a cloud of blue smoke. And through the fog, Killer Frost emerged once more. Felicity and Iris got behind her as she protected them from Amunet's steel plates by creating a dome of ice.
Within the makeshift igloo, Iris and Felicity managed to successfully instruct Cecile to activate the magnets above — which attracted all of Amunet's steel plates, making her unable to attack. While Killer Frost attempted to kill her former boss, her new teammates managed to talk her out of it. But in doing so, they willingly allowed the villain to escape (after she swore revenge).
The altercation also showed Catilin and Iris just how strong their friendship truly is, which resulted in the intrepid reporter asking the S.T.A.R. Labs scientist to be her Maid Of Honor.
6. The Thinker Reclaims The New Metahuman
During the episode, Amunet introduced us to her newest acquisition: a new metahuman with tears that were virtually a love drug. While the ladies of Team Flash and Team Arrow managed to save the tormented meta from Amunet, he later found himself in the crosshairs of this season's Big Bad — Clifford "The Thinker" DeVoe.
As we could have predicted from the time of the new meta's creation (three weeks ago), DeVoe revealed that he was the one who created him (like the other 11 on the bus) and that he couldn't have him running away before he served his purpose. But once again, we are left wondering: Why was he created? And perhaps more importantly: What does The Thinker want him to do?
This week's episode may have allowed the ladies of the #Arrowverse to shine, but it also made time to further the main storylines of the season. "Girls Night Out" gave us an in-depth insight into what Caitlin got up to during the five months between Season 3 and 4, while managing to entertain us at the same time.
Furthermore, it also introduced us to another of the 12 metahumans and made us even more curious as to what DeVoe's plans are.
With the threat of DeVoe, Amunet Black and Caitlin's internal fear of Killer Frost all addressed, the episode was another great offering from The Flash's fourth season, which continues its unstoppable roll for yet another week.
