Barry Allen and Team Flash may have finally figured out how to trap Savitar in the Speed Force, but as we discovered this week, they're going to need some help powering up the Speed Force cannon. But as the power source they need is protected at A.R.G.U.S. by King Shark, Barry will need some help stealing it. And that will come in the form of non other than Captain Cold.
But if a week is too long for you to wait, and the trailer just isn't enough, then you'll be happy to hear that The CW has released brand new photos for next week's episode. The episode — titled "Infantino Street" after Barry Allen's co-creator Carmine Infantino, and the name of the street Iris is fated to die on — will see Barry reunite with Leonard Snart as he desperately hatches a plan to save Iris.
Spoilers follow for The Flash Season 3. Check out the brand new photos below:
Savitar Returns To His Red Roots
Let's begin with the most unsettling photo of the bunch, which shows Future Flash himself in S.T.A.R. Labs, dressed in what appears to be Barry's own Flash suit. However, if you look closely, the emblem appears to be a little grubby. Thus, it's possible that Savitar has returned to using his very own Flash suit in order to play mind games with the team while Barry is away.
We still don't know why Savitar has randomly turned up in Team Flash's headquarters, but he likely doesn't have good intentions.
Vibe Vs. Killer Frost: Dawn Of Savitar
Ever since we found out that Caitlin had become Killer Frost on Earth-1, we have been awaiting her inevitable showdown with Cisco. S.T.A.R. Labs' resident Vibe has been doing his best to try and save her all season, but her final transformation rendered all the power-dampening technology useless.
And now, the best friends look set to square off on the eve of Savitar's becoming, and we have to wonder: which one, if e, will come out on top?
As we already saw in the recent trailer for the show's final few episodes, Killer Frost will overpower Cisco at one point during the fight, and threatens to kill him. But will she be able to go through with it?
After all, this week's episode highlighted that Caitlin is still very much alive and well within that frosty exterior, and the touching moment she shared with Cisco and Julian just proves how her friends can still save her. But will she able to defeat the ice queen within before she does something she could live to regret?
Captain Cold Returns To Help Barry
While we all knew he was coming back, it's still great to see Captain Cold included in the photos. Barry needs help orchestrating a plan to defeat Savitar — and breaking into A.R.G.U.S. apparently — so he turns to the best master plan co-coordinator he knows.
The trailer reveals that the two end up coming face to face with King Shark while trying to retrieve their prize, but we all know that Leonard Snart won't be backed into this corner without a plan.
Many of us have been wondering how Snart is going to return, as the character died in Season 1 of #LegendsOfTomorrow. However, the trailer for the episode finally revealed the answer: Barry is going to travel back to sometime during the events of Legends' first season, quite possibly the pilot episode, and recruit his old frenemy.
It will be interesting to see how Cold's expertise will help Barry in his quest to save Iris. The former criminal turned Legend seemed to have a soft spot for the Scarlet Speedster, so you can bet that he won't let him down.
The Night Iris Dies
Some of the most intriguing photos reveal The Flash waiting on what appears to be Infantino Street, holding the operational Speed Force cannon. Thus, it's safe to presume that his mission to acquire the power source was successful.
But it leaves us wondering if we will see the fated battle with Savitar occur in this episode, or will that be saved for the finale? Most importantly, will the cannon trap the "God of Speed" and save Iris' life? Or will Savitar take one of our beloved #superheroes with him?
