The Flash may have just returned to The CW for its fourth season, but it has wasted no time in making us aware of the show's new, lighter direction. Having already come across Samuroid, Killgore and Hazard (and let's not forget about the season's Big Bad Clifford "The Thinker" DeVoe), it's clear that Team Flash are in for quite possibly the most unique year of supervillains yet.
However, when an abundance of unique supervillains show up, you can rest assured that unique #superheroes won't be far behind. And that's exactly what Barry Allen and his team are going to find out next week when they're introduced to Ralph Dibny a.k.a. the Elongated Man.
The CW have released a brand new promo for Season 4, Episode 4 "Elongated Journey Into Night," which gives us a glimpse of all the craziness we can expect to see from the show's next outing. Check it out below:
Elongated Man Debuts
Undoubtedly the biggest talking point of the trailer is our first look at Hartley Sawyer's portrayal of Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man. From the clip, it appears that this iteration of the character is a former dirty cop who a lot of people are after. So, as you can imagine, it doesn't take long for him to find himself in trouble. However, when Team Flash save the day, they certainly don't expect to see his arm stretch half way across S.T.A.R. Labs. And judging by the look on his face, neither did he.
As a comic book fan, it's incredibly exciting to see the live-action debut of another iconic #DC character on the show. In the comics, Dibny isn't just known for his ability to stretch, he's also renowned for his sense of humor. And the previously released character synopsis suggests that he'll be adding a lot more fun to Season 4 of the beloved #TV series.
However, it appears that he won't have mastered his abilities just yet. The recently released photos for the upcoming episode also show Team Flash trying to protect Dibny from danger. With Danny Trejo also debuting as bounty hunter Breacher in the photos, we have to wonder if he's there to help or harm Central City's stretchiest man. But whatever happens, one thing is clear: Next week's episode of The Flash will be incredibly star-studded.
So far, The Flash's fourth season has been very enjoyable. The return to the lighter tone was, without a doubt, a wise decision as light-hearted fun is what the show does best. But know with the addition of the hilarious Elongated Man, we should be prepared for things to get a heck of a lot funnier.
