Eddie Thawne. Henry Allen. In each season of , the fans have come to expect a deuteragonist to tragically pass away. From Iris's boyfriend to Barry's own father, the significance of the characters who perish keeps on climbing the totem pole. This is why it is not all the surprising that Joe West will die by the end of this season of The Flash.

What?! Joe has been there from the start and frequently provided the emotional core for the show, which is why killing him off will be both heartbreaking and dramatic. However, unlike most of the wild speculators roaming the internet, I've come armed with solid evidence.

In the mid-season finale, we hear Savitar inform the team of a chilling prophecy:

"One shall fall"

But which one? The answer was subtly revealed in the succeeding episode, check out the clip below:

"Joe West honored at City Hall"

A line to which H. Wells casually responds, "Good for you, Joe." But why was (will) Joe be "honored at City Hall"? Maybe he stops some meta-human from exuding mass affliction, or save Central City from a fatal bomb — all of which are unlikely, as those sort of feats are left to the and his enhanced allies. There is one other reason why Joe could be honored — a reason why many people are honored in real life: because he will die in the line of duty. When you think about it, it makes sense.

Killing Iris will be too predictable, and the other protagonists have yet to see their arcs come to fruition (and the CW has yet to kill a superhero), but Joe has already done his job. Out of the whole team, Joe is the one that offers the least amount of assistance and, therefore, makes him the most expendable. The date Cisco and Barry vibe to is May 23rd, 2017, so Joe's death will debut at least a week prior to that. Joe's death, in conjunction with the reprisal of Killer Frost and a "gorilla [Grodd] attack," will surely expose Barry and place him in his most vulnerable state yet. There are some dark days ahead for our Scarlet Speedster.

What Do YOU Think? Do you think Joe will die? Who will betray the team? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
