So The Flash's winter finale certainly left us with a heck of a lot of lot of questions — will a major character be killed off, will someone betray Barry and how on earth are they going to stop the abominable Savitar? And to make the blow even worse, we didn't get a trailer to help keep us warm throughout the holidays as we eagerly await the Scarlet Speedster's return. But now, Christmas has come early as The CW has released a brand new trailer for the second part of The Flash Season 3, centered around the midseason premiere "Borrowing Problems From The Future."
Check out the brand new trailer below:
Although it's brief, it gives us a little insight into what we can expect — action, drama and powerhouse performances — as Barry does whatever it takes to stop Savitar from committing the most unpardonable of all sins. Now, let's take a look at what this trailer promises for the upcoming season — that is if your feels are still intact.
Barry Tells Iris About The Future
After quizzing Barry about his unusual behavior, Iris is dealt a major blow when he comes clean to her about the new changes to the timeline, involving her future death. And this revelation leaves her understandably shaken as Barry comforts her.
It's no secret that Iris West is Barry Allen's one true love, and the altered future is definitely a concern for fans of the couple. However, it's unlikely that The Flash will make the same mistake as parent show #Arrow when it killed off Laurel Lance. Comic book couples are endgame in comic books shows. And because of this, Iris will fight to survive, and ultimately will end up doing just that.
The trailer also highlighted just how close Barry and Iris have grown, and now that they've finally taken those sacred steps in their relationship, don't expect the two to be parting ways anytime soon. Something Barry himself reassured us when he swears to Iris that he will protect her.
This will definitely be an interesting storyline, and it will be intriguing to see just how far Barry will go to protect his one true love — speaking of which.
There Will Be More Timeline Meddling
Poor Barry Allen just can't resist messing with the timeline. In the Season 1 finale, he went back in time to save his mother but chose not to do it. Then he followed that up by doing the same thing in the Season 2 finale, succeeding this time and creating a whole new timeline called Flashpoint. And let's not forget that time he was chased by a Time Wraith, turned Hartley good and interacted with himself when explicitly told not to. Like I said, Barry loves meddling with the timelines.
However, it seems that he learned absolutely nothing from the experience as it appears that he is set to change things up all over again — but this time, it will be a natural altering of the future, not the past. Okay so it's not exactly the same thing, but it's still meddling with the timeline, right? Anyway, knowing what the future holds, he hatches a plan to figure out what happens leading up to Iris' death and change that, hopefully creating a ripple that will save her from dying. Let's hope that he can pull it off!
The Killer (Frost) Within
One of this season's main storylines is Caitlin Snow's struggles with her newfound powers — which were a result of Flashpoint. While her secret was revealed and she subsequently went on an icy rampage after using her powers saving Barry from Savitar, Killer Frost was suppressed as Caitlin returned to the forefront and began wearing metahuman power-dampening cuffs.
However, from the trailer it seems like Caitlin is having trouble suppressing the Killer Frost within. While we can't see completely, it looks like that even with the bracelets, she can't stop her dark side from manifesting as her eyes begin to change color — much like they did in the "Killer Frost" episode. Will she end up being the one that betrays Barry? Or can Killer Frost use her powers for good?

Plunder Is Coming To TV
You may have noticed a man wearing an eye-patch wreaking havoc on a Central City diamond exchange. Well, that man is none other than the DC Comics character Plunder. And if you're wondering how I know this, it's because that same man is also seen earlier in the trailer when he is pictured on a news report with the caption "Jared Morillo Found Guilty."
In the comics, Jared Morillo is the real name of Plunder. In fact, Morillo was just a Keystone City Detective until an alternate version of himself arrived from a mirror universe and killed him. Plunder was an incredibly skilled bounty hunter. And from the looks of things, his skills will be on full display when he finally makes his debut on The Flash #TV series.
Kid-Flash And The Flash Team Up
The last time we saw the Flash team up with Kid Flash, it didn't end too well for Wally West. But that was Flashpoint. Now, in the main timeline, it seems that Barry and Wally will be teaming up once again, and this time it will be to save Iris. Now that Wally officially has his powers, could we see Kid Flash become a regular part of the show? You can never have too many #superheroes right?
One thing is for sure, Iris needs her brother and her boyfriend now more than ever. And as the last trailer taught us oh so well, two Flashes are better than one!
Barry Goes Back To The Future — Kind Of
The trailer also reveals Barry and Cisco wearing matching headsets as the S.T.A.R Labs genius appears to vibe. While we're not completely sure what's happening, based on Cisco's classic update of a legendary #BackToTheFuture quotation, and the ending of the trailer, it appears that he is planning to Vibe Barry back to the future where Iris is killed by Savitar.
While we don't know yet why this happens, it's likely to do with Barry's plan. Placing him in the environment for an extended period of time will likely allow him to study what's going on at the time. Like he said, if he can change just one event leading up to Iris' death, it just might alter the timeline completely and save Iris from from the god of speed.
This brand new trailer for the second part of The Flash Season 3 has definitely heightened the excitement for the show's return. Will Barry be able to save Iris from the altered future, and how on earth can they stop Savitar from making it happen? With Iris' future hanging in the balance, time travel making a return, Caitlin being haunted by her icy demons and the debut of a new villain — not to mention Jay Garrick's impending return— it seems that Season 3 of The Flash still has a lot left to give.
The Flash returns to The CW on Tuesday 24th January 2017. Are you excited after seeing this new trailer? Let us know in the comments below!
