The Flash and Supergirl finally teamed up for the musical extravaganza of the year, belting out catchy tunes in a crossover episode that captivated us even more than the Music Meister's hypnotic glare.

Musicals are usually quite straight forward, but the latest crossover contained a number of surprises, not least the superhuman set of lungs that half of the cast seem to magically possess. However, nothing shocked us more than the unexpected interlude that occurred during the song 'Super Friend.'

Super Enemies?

Co-written by Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star and creator Rachel Bloom, the adorable duet sees and trade tongue-in-cheek quips with ease, all while comfortably showing off the range of their vocal and tap talents too. Halfway through, though, Barry suddenly slows things down, revealing a surprising admission about Kara's Kryptonian relative:

"I have to say, I'm not impressed by your more famous cousin."

Rather than defend , the Maid of Steel is actually overjoyed by Barry's revelation, thanking him because, "No one ever says that!" then goes on to perform an admittedly hilarious impersonation of Big Blue, but this aside actually raises a surprising question.

How Does The Flash Know About Superman?

Unlike the rest of the Arrowverse heroes, Barry Allen travelled to Kara's Earth once before in their first crossover, long before even joined The CW. However, at that point, not even the viewers had met Tyler Hoechlin's Superman.

Since then, Supergirl has visited Barry's Earth twice in various crossovers, but Superman never accompanied her. How, then, does The Flash know about The Man of Tomorrow?

The obvious answer is that Kara simply told the speedster about her more famous cousin. After all, the two heroes clearly shared conversations offscreen too during their various crossovers, but if that's the case, then how did Barry know how to impersonate Superman? After all, Kara herself told The Flash;

"That's a really good impression."

Did The Flash Meet Superman Without Us Knowing?

Supergirl may have been joking when she commended Barry's impression of her cousin, but the fact remains that it was rather strange of him to mock Superman without actually meeting him... unless of course he's somehow bumped into The Man of Steel before.

While we know that Grant Gustin and Tyler Hoechlin haven't met onscreen in The CW, there's always the chance that the heroes enjoy adventures that we haven't seen yet, ones that take place between episodes. The Flash sure does like to zip back and forth between timelines, so who's to say that he hasn't visited Kara's world another time and met Superman himself?

If that's the case, we'd be thrilled to know whether the two ever raced, and if so, who won? Comic book Flash is able to break the laws of physics, travelling faster than the speed of light, but the CW version of Barry Allen could find racing Superman a tougher challenge.

Sure, there's also a chance that The CW may have just been taking a quick jab at detractors who argued Superman deserved his own show more than Supergirl. Call us naive, but we'd rather take a page from Kara's optimistic outlook on life, imagining a world where Barry already met Clark and the two became best buddies — super friends, if you will...
