It looks like Fox's Sleepy Hollow has finally been kicked awake. The project was first mentioned back in July 2012, but since then we've hardly heard anything about the television project. That now looks set to change. JoBlo has just reported that Fox has finally ordered a pilot for the series.

Sleepy Hollow is being described as a modern-day supernatural thriller based on Washington Irving's classic tale of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow. It will follow Ichabod Crane as he partners up with Sleepy Hollow's resident — and I'm guessing sexy — female sheriff to solve various supernatural mysteries.

Star Trek scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will pen the script for the pilot, while Underworld helmer is set to direct.

However, the Headless Horseman doesn't seem content to stick to one network. The CW, home of supernatural series The Vampire Diaries, is also planning to commission their own Sleepy Hollow inspired TV series.

With little information on both projects, it's hard to pick which sounds best, but can either of them ever beat 's original 1999 Sleepy Hollow movie? Get debating below!
