Fans of The Flight of the Conchords will know that when it comes to being up-to-date with the latest technology, New Zealand can often seem a bit behind. Well, not anymore! It has just been announced that the UltraViolet cross-platform library tool will be rolled out across Australia and New Zealand with the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on DVD and Blu-ray.

The tool, which allows owners of DVDs and Blu-rays to watch their films on PC, Mac, iOS and Android, has already proven popular in the US and UK. Now, once The Hobbit hits the shelves on May 1st, Aussies and Kiwis will also get to enjoy the service.

They won't be the only guys who'll be getting UltraViolet, as it's scheduled to arrive on French and German shores by the end of the year. With its service expanding across the globe, I'm sure we can expect its catalog of 9,000 titles to expand exponentially.

What do you think? Do you use UltraViolet? Have the Aussies and Kiwis been missing out? Let me know below.
