Hey! Remember when DC's Gotham was going to be a rough look at James Gordon's life as he solved various crimes in the city? Well, it turns out this show isn't that. Bummer.

Instead, it looks like we're going to get Batman's answer to Smallville. This all comes from Fox chairman Kevin Reilly who had this to say about the show today at the Television Critics Association press tour:

"This is all of the classic Batman characters," Reilly said during the panel. "It follows the arc of how they all became what they were. I’ve read the script its really good. It's going to be this operatic soap that has a slightly larger-than-life quality."

This includes The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, Penguin and Batman. Reilly later went on to say that the show won't start with "capes and costumes," but mentioned that there could be time jumping elements that show these characters as superheroes and villains in the future. So, it's like Wicked for Batman. Got it. And I'm not sure if I like it.

How do you guys feel about this? Let me know below and on Twitter
